Thoughts on The Expression Amrilato

Here's another VN I like: ことのはアムリラート (The Expression Amrilato).

This one I played a few months back but still think back on it. It's an often overlooked educational/yuri VN about a japanese girl who suddenly gets transported to an alternate universe where people speak Esperanto (they call it Juliamo), and can't find her way back.

It seemed kind of gimmicky at first glance, but turned it out to be one of the most profound reading experiences I've had. The emotional depth of the writing is incredible: the characters are easy to understand, but extremely relatable. One of the passages that nearly brought me to tears is one of Rin's (the protagonist's) inner monologues, when she's trying to learn Juliamo to be able to communicate with the people of this reality; after studying for days and barely picking up the basics of the language, she, who was so motivated before, sees other people conversing with ease and becomes crestfallen. The feelings of inadequacy, of powerlessness, of being left out, were so well conveyed that they touched my very soul. I would highly recommend this VN to anyone who's ever been passionate about learning something.
